On this Earth Day,
I will not admonish you.
It matters the least to you.
Reasoning won’t change you.
Nihilism characterizes you.

I won’t remind glaciers are melting.
I won’t remind sea levels are rising.
I won’t remind species are dying.
I won’t remind climate is weirding.

Unwilling to make major changes.
Trivial changes you support.
Gives feeling you are contributing.
Though you don’t have much to report.

You want your beastly truck,
masquerading as a car.
You want your mega mansion.
Thought of climate impact is quite far.
Door to any serious discussion is not ajar.

Extreme heat waves,
over drenching rains,
bone chilling cold waves
gale force windstorms,
Perpetual droughts……….
… To you it is just weather!

You practice selective trust of science,
readily accepting science of eclipse predictions.
But, when it comes to climate change,
you summarily dismiss human-climate connections.

Your grandchildren will bear the brunt.
You say you dearly love them.
It’s faux love; if it was true, you would
do what’s required now for them.
