The day of haunts is near
The air is thick with excitement and fear

Goblins and ghouls hoot and howl
Mummies, zombies, and skeletons scowl

Black cats’ eyes glow as they cross one’s path
Will you escape the witch’s wrath?

Jack-o-lanterns are carved and lit
Boys and girls hope their costumes fit

Door to door in groups they walk
At each house trick-or-treat they squawk

The night will ring with children’s screams
They sleep with smiles as candy fills their dreams.
