Ah joys of summer, picnic in a park
Glad to leave behind times that were dark

Feels like we woke up from a long nightmare
No one was safe, misery everywhere

Thanks to vaccines, we are free to live
Science works, multiple vaccines proof positive

Let us thank scientists for vaccine development speed
Working 24 hrs., giving it all in the direst times of need

Let us not forget those who are no longer with us
Especially essential workers who toiled without any fuss

We saw-
the best of humanity – our overworked medical workers
the worst of humanity – anti vaxers and anti-maskers

When collective good is stake, we need to come together
Need to think of not just me, but also each other

Hopefully, some good will come out of this pandemic
Will courageously address inequities that are systemic

So let us partake in the feast and enjoy the day
No looking back, life goes on come what may.
