Somber remembrance of a departed soul
Remembering one of my uncles on the somber anniversary of his ascension to the heaven.
When I look up to the heaven,
close my eyes I see a bright star
I plug my ears & hear familiar words*
as if he is next to me, not very far
(*Hello Ashok-ji)
We have great conversations
in silence, without talking much
As the wind from the Pacific wafts,
it feels like his gentle touch
He left the Earth a year ago, but
he is very much here for me
I count on his continued blessings
His grace is omnipresent for all to see
We mortals bend to nature’s cycle
Human body is ephemeral
It exists only for a few moments
but our soul is eternal
Time passes, we move on
but we do not forget, no way
Our regard for him only grows
For peace of his soul, we pray
His memories lift my spirits,
encourage me to keep going,
& to make the best of the time left
before my story meets its ending.
May God continue to bless his soul!
Amen.
