Lynchburg USA
This piece was composed in June 2020.
Some people may find the language in the piece “offensive”, though there are no bleeping words. As a result I am not posting the whole piece.
If you are interested in seeing it, please send an e-mail at Rhymingprose@gmail.com.
I will decide if I want to share it with you. There is no appeal process.
Thank you for understanding of my concern in today’s hyper partisan and charged atmosphere.

The opening lines of the piece are:
Human history is reeking with incidents of brutal cruelty –
towards other fellow humans who are unlike “US”
“WE” harbor the power to be viciously savage
This is true of all humans, make no fuss

The piece ends on a downbeat mood.
If history is any guide, this will not be the last lynching
400 years of institutional bias drives police behavior
To really fix the problem requires change in White peoples attitude
For this there is no quick fix nor there is one lone savior
PS : Can the system be changed? In theory yes, But, don’t hold your breath. it can only be changed if:
– Whites drive the change and are willing to lose their privileges
– Role of money declines in elections
– Politicians are willing to renegotiate Union contracts and are willing to tolerate the pain of Union’s actions (work to rule, work slow
down, no overtime……..)
– Supreme Court is willing to reconsider the “qualified immunity” decision
I am not holding my breath. I want to live.
