Elizabeth Lynne Cheney is the U.S. representative for Wyoming’s at-large congressional district since 2017. She chaired the House Republican Conference, the third-highest position in the House Republican leadership, from 2019 to 2021. Cheney is the vice chair of the congressional panel investigating the January 6, 2021 insurrection.

Fake patriots are “dime a dozen”
Egged on by a head-to-toe Fake
Fake patriots’ loyalty is misgiven

Clutching bible, strapping flags,
Holding gun, screaming slogans
Inciting violence, shouting profanities
Patriots? Nah just misguided hooligans

True patriots care more for their country
than their own power, their self-interest
They are prepared to defend it against
Enemies of all stripes, with unyielding zest

Liz, you put your career on the line
to defend your country’s values
You showed through your actions the
strength of your character and its virtues

You rose above the conviction less
Politicians, hungry for power at all cost
You refused to take the easy path
Sticking to principles, gained more than lost

I salute your bravery and your valor
You have become a political martyr
I am certain you will rise from the ashes
like phoenix, revitalized, in short order.
