Me a hypocrite? -Nah; just a servant of the Republican Party

I am a politician, not a pope
You are looking at the wrong place,
if you are looking for consistency
I’m not seeking God’s grace

I am a staunch Republican
It’s my job to advance our goals
Elections have consequences
We won, you lost at the last polls

We have the power to call a vote
to confirm President’s nominee
We have already confirmed two
This confirmation will make it three

Yes, I didn’t allow a vote on Obama’s pick
Saying let voters decide in November
It was a gamble, what if Hillary won?
Luckily for us, we don’t need to ponder

You ask why a different tune now?
I say why not, it’s my prerogative
As the leader of the Senate,
I control the gavel and the narrative

What I said in the past
was right for the times then
The words shrivel, don’t last
Do I need to mention?

You may call me a hypocrite
or any other name, I don’t care
I’m doing a duty to my party
It’s not a sinister affair

A politician’s goal is to stay in power
Turn every wheel to realize it
It’s simple, do whatever it takes
No need to over analyze it

You say what about principles?
I say “Looking out for Number One “
I need to win, cost be damned
Losing an opportunity is no fun

Politics is a contact sport
It is like Mixed Martial Arts
Better to hit than to take a hit
It is not golf on electric carts!

I say to Democrats suck it up
It is fun to watch you squirm
Appointing a woman will help
Trump win another term

We live in a great country or what!
