Home – a poem by Aman Deep

I walked aimlessly along a river,
Sometimes carelessly among its shores,
Other times meaninglessly among the still sands;
Time and again I pondered where is my home.

Sometimes a breath of breeze,
Reminds me of a stale, dusty attic,
A tree’s shade dark and gentle,
Reminds me of cold crevices and squiggly lines,
On the four claustrophobic walls.

The setting sun and dawn,
Remind me of sitting idle in the front lawn,
The dancing rays, soothing and simmering,
Remind me of cool summer breeze,
Flowing through the sweating room.

Yet I ask myself again and again,
What is a home,
A house, people, place,
I find an answer for every question,
And a question for every answer.
