Happy 20th Birthday Nidhi (from Ashok Gupta – Nidhi’s dad)
(Nidhi is Ashok Gupta’s daughter. Ashok wrote this piece 20 years ago when Nidhi turned 20. How time flies!
Nidhi recently found it in her scrapbook. So here it is. Enjoy)
It is a special day today Nidhi, as you turn twenty
I have fond memories I cherish indeed aplenty
I remember peeling oranges for you one by one
Sitting in the room trying to catch every ray of the sun
Buying “teeny weenie” clothes was so much fun
I was a proud papa; you were my beacon
Aah the twenties — time to leave college
Time to find a job, put to use your knowledge
Serve the unfortunate and build your self-image
Life is not just a destination but a voyage
Aah the twenties — time to settle down
Build a home in a better part of town
Build as you see fit, put your own imprint,
you be the designer make your own blueprint
Aah, the twenties, time to find a soulmate
Keep perspective and not be blinded by things ornate
No body owes you anything, you make your own fate
Stay healthy, be forgiving, you’re bound to feel great
Success is more than money & things that you buy
Be contented yet strive for more and aim high
Be humble, be kind, be forgiving not arrogant
Even when angry, it is best to remain pleasant
We wish you all the best that life has to give
