Here we go again, again! (July 4, 2022)
Warning: If you are an unapologetic gun owner, you won’t like this piece. I suggest you stop right here. The same warning applies to people who don’t think police does anything wrong. Thank you very much for your understanding.

Here we go again, again!
Mass shootings define us
We have lost our senses
Are we ever going to regain?
Don’t say enough is enough
It doesn’t matter to power brokers
In our country, it’s never enough
when it comes to mass murders
This shooting happened on 4th of July
No coincidence, it’s Independence Day
This is the day we celebrate our freedom
Including freedom to own a gun & hunt prey
The shooter was a young white male
What do yaa know! Don’t you see a pattern?
Oh, I forgot you can’t, you are too busy
mowing down unarmed Black men! 🙁 🙁
This event too shall retreat from our conscience
Since, soon, there will be a repeat somewhere
It is not a question of if, rather when & where
Families would suffer but no one else would care
Big speeches will be made, hands would be wrung
Questions will be asked, even though answers are known
Nothing much would change, it never does
Rhetoric will be spirited, accusations will be thrown
Yeah, I know, Congress passed a new gun law
I suggest you don’t celebrate just yet
Most, if not all, provisions will be annulled
by the courts, I am willing to take the bet
“Guns don’t kill, people kill” says NRA
“Gun laws don’t work, don’t you see”
“Good people need guns for personal defense
from bad people, who are your enemy”
Until the next such event, I say bye.
I am sure we will meet again, most likely sooner, not later.
God Bless America – a land where guns rule.
A few mass shootings and human carnage is a small price to pay for our freedom to own guns, of all types, no questions asked.
May victims’ souls rest in peace and families find strength to cope with their losses.
