History Repeats- an elegy for Buffalo Bills’ fans

My heartfelt condolences for Buffalo BILLS’ loss
This is the saddest defeat one will ever come across

Hopes reeled like a yoyo – up, down, up, down
One can hear silence and cheer across the town

I know presently you are wallowing in morass
Give it time, like previous years, this too shall pass

Life is not fair, as true now as before
It disappoints you down to your core

Things happen, that one can’t control
They can flip, even when you are on a roll

Eastern philosophy calls it destiny or Karma
Acceptance of your destiny is the right dharma

Lady luck was not on your side, on this day
Thanks to NFL, in OT, you couldn’t make a play

Your bid to play in Super Bowl got thwarted
Despite the players for the job, you had drafted

Why us? Where is the fairness? – you ask
You won’t question if you were up to the task!

You snatched defeat from the jaws of victory
Leaving you in loads of pain and misery

With four defeats in a row in Super Bowl
I must say, you have dug a very deep hole

Redemption will have to wait for the next season
Until then you have to have patience for good reason

The wounds are raw, and body is full of sorrow
All I can offer is, Sun will still come out tomorrow

So, keep the faith, keep cheering for the team
Hope next year is kinder to you and your dream.
